Spontaneous Italian Journey

My dear watch friends! Sometimes travel plans change. And occasionally that leads to something unexpectedly nice. We were actually supposed to be in the Maldives starting today. Due to the well known circumstances it unfortunately did not work out. At the

If watches were being priced according to the precious metal content, I think we would have already seen it happen.

With current prices between the two metals, I highly doubt a platinum day-date is more expensive to make than a gold one. The pricing is more for the exclusivity of having a rarer model. The premium on a platona for example of course has relatively little

Different story…

I was never a big fan of the Daytona model in general. Two years ago, when the updated platinum version was presented at W&W, I ordered this watch on impulse—and then completely forgot about it. When my AD called me a few weeks ago, I went there just to s

Thank you, alexxelor, for your kind words and your remarkably well-informed perspective.

Absolutely agree with you—especially on the logic behind exposing the movement in the Le Mans edition —it’s a mechanical statement, not just a visual one. I now own the new 126506, and I’ll admit: at first, I also questioned the need for a sapphire caseba

There is still snow on the ground in the country, but I would imagine in a couple of weeks I’ll be gone

Thank you. And

Yes, I was very specific when hunting down this one a few years ago. I bought it NOS from a jeweler in Italy. Then sourced a NOS 214270 bracelet for it to replace the original “tinny” bracelet that came on the 14060. Perfect allround watch for situations

2005 to 2023…

I wonder what was behind the scenes, concerns and considerations, for taking this long to make another sapphire crystal caseback?

A Date-Date…finally.

I’ve been thinking to fill this void with a DD40 YG with green lacquer dial to complete the bracelet trifecta but I think this one works well too. At least I know my “boss” is super happy with this 36mm green aventurine and I can steal it occasionally. Al
